昨天收到診所寄來的帳單，害我心情頓時從地面掉到地獄。（對，原本心情就普普而已。）
我完全沒有預期收到這張帳單。聖誕節前趕上感冒熱潮，去看了醫生。原本不是很想去的，米國看病那麼花錢，能省則省；且我不愛吃藥。不過看馬克那麼擔心，加上我有學生保險，估量應該還可以負擔。馬克帶我去緊急照護診所看病，包含藥費共付了60美元，總之還可以接受。
結果，昨天收到診所的帳單，說我的保險公司拒絕他們的請款，我得付他們220美元！當下我真是氣炸了。是一般的感冒，又不是特殊疾病，而且我當時真的很不舒服啊，當天要站直都沒力氣，相當有理由去看病，沒有浪費醫療資源吧？為什麼這不含在我的保險項目裡？是我的保險方案太差了嗎？（但當初Renea一直說大家對這保險方案很滿意呢！）那我每個月繳保險費是純粹是花錢開心嗎？
我跟馬克抱怨，他說我現在很美國了，因為這裡每個人都討厭保險公司！
Received a medical bill yesterday. It made me pissed off!
This bill wasn't expected. I was sick before Christmas - the flu was quite popular back then. At first I didn't plan to see a doctor, since it costs (a lot of) money, and I generally don't like taking pills. But considering that I had student insurance, and also Mark was very worried about me, I finally went to a doctor. Mark took me to an urgent care. We paid $60 for everything, including pills. Anyway, it was acceptable.
But, yesterday I received the bill from the urgent care, saying that my insurance company denied their claim and now I am responsible for the full cost - I have to pay additional $220. I was pissed off right away. It wasn't any weird or special diseases, and I was really sick at that time - I hardly had the energy to stand when I visited the doctor. Why isn't this covered in my insurance? Is it a bad insurance plan? (But Renea told us at the beginning of last semester that this is a better plan and everyone is satisfied with it.) I felt that this insurance doesn't worth my money at all.
I complained this to Mark, and he said I am so American now. Because everyone here hates insurance company!

Can you file anything to argue that? Or is it because it's an urgent care clinic, so it's not covered in your plan?
ReplyDeleteI called, and it seemed to be my mistake. They only cover the expense at clinics that are in their network, unless I am in life threatening danger. So I had to pay...
