沙威瑪/Shawarma

一直到今天才知道沙威瑪的英文是Shawarma。在台灣時我很愛吃，或許因為是麵包夾著的關係（基本上所有餅或麵包相關的食物我都很愛）。公館丹堤附近那一家更是我的最愛。春假在密西根時，馬克和我去了一家當地人推薦的中東餐廳。當時我想吃得健康，就點了一道雞肉和蔬菜混炒在一起的料理，食物送上來超大一盤，又非常好吃，當時覺得真是物超所值啊。

過去一週我全心全意找房子，所有不上課的時間我也不唸書，一有空就打電話問物件或瀏覽網頁。或許因為這兒是大學城，公寓管理公司或仲介不用擔心沒有市場，房租價格都比我理想預算高出一百多美金，找得我心灰意冷。我好想要多存點機票錢啊！

總之，累了一週，週末小小放鬆一下，租了復仇者聯盟來看，配著麻辣鍋，還挺過癮的。之前進戲院看過，對於英雄動作片我一向不怎麼期待，總覺得劇情什麼的都老套了。不過這部片有不少超級英雄的笑點，我很喜歡。配上英文字幕，應該會對劇情了解更多。

劇情快結束時，鋼鐵人說有家沙威瑪小館他不知道是什麼但他一直想去，要大家一起去。結果，默默地穿插在片尾工作人員名單，出現了一群超級英雄在這中東小餐館極為靜默地吃著沙威瑪的一幕（見文章最下方）。笑死我啦！

I have always loved shawarma.  In Taiwan, shawarma is served with buns and shredded cabbage.  My favorite one is a small booth near my university.  During the spring break, Mark and I went to a shawarma restaurant in Kalamazoo recommended by locals.  I ordered stirred chicken and vegetables.  It was really delicious.  It immediately became one of our favorite Kalamazoo restaurants.

In the past week, I spent all my spare time looking for apartments for the following academic year.  Maybe because Iowa City is a college town, always plenty of demand for apartments, all the rents are a lot higher than my ideal price.  So frustrated.

Anyway, I took the weekend off after a tiring week.  Watching Avengers while having spicy hot pot as my dinner.  Very enjoyable.  I watched it in the theater once.  I am not fond of superhero movies.  To me there is nothing new or unexpected in the plots.  However, the Avengers made some good fun of or among those superheros.  I really like it.  With the subtitle,  I could understand the plot much better.

At the end of the movie, Iron Man said "Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I want to try it."  Then following the credits, the film showed a footage of those superheros hanging out and having shuwarma in silence.  That scene just made my day.
