心情雜記/Miscellaneous

．萬聖節月份中西部的特有活動，就是玉米田迷宮。這次和朋友們選擇去鬼屋和鬼玉米田玩。有別第一次鬼屋的經驗，這次我完全不害怕，還可以跟這些裝神弄鬼的工作人員們對話，我終於長大了！（但看恐怖片還是不需要找我，謝謝。）

．某晚念統計課本居然看到笑了出來，真是值得紀念的一刻啊！我想絕對是作者文筆太好，不是我統計功力進步懂得統計笑話。

．很喜歡統計老師，他的教學理念相當有趣又合理，例如：認為抄襲作業與作業形式為小組或個人作業無關，小組作業更能強化同儕學習；考試考不好，給你補救的機會—考卷發回去後你若重寫錯的題目，有機會獲得該題一半的分數。超幸運能遇到這樣的老師啊！

．由於統計作業幾次下來可以解八成左右的題目，自我感覺良好之下完全沒辦法靜下心唸書準備考試；而個體經濟學因為太困難第一堂課開始就在狀況外，作業解題也是靠朋友幫忙，在自我感覺極差之下呈現放棄狀態，也無法靜下心好好準備，結果就是所有的考試都考差了⋯。

．週二居然下雪了，秋天好短啊！最愛的金黃色葉子和紅得像火似的樹都還沒拍，也還沒機會踩落葉說～

．只要再帶四次課，這學期就結束嘍！

．買好機票，期待年底假期的到來！

- Haunted houses and corn mazes are amongst the most popular activities in the Midwestern US, during the Halloween season.  My friends and I chose to visit a farm with two haunted houses and one haunted cornfield.  I was very scared last time when I visited a haunted house in Columbus, OH.  I covered my eyes and screamed all the way.  But this time, I wasn't afraid at all!  I could even talk to the staff.  I am finally a grown up now!  (But still no scary movies, thanks.)

- I laughed when I read a Statistics textbook the other night.  What a memorable moment!  I think it is because of the author who is able to describe statistical problems in such a humorous fashion, not because of the improvement of my Statistics ability.

- I like my Statistics professor this semester.  He has many interesting teaching ideas and is very reasonable.  For example, he believes that group assignments work better than individual assignments, since it encourages learning from peers (copying homework is not a worry since individual assignments don't stop students from copying from others); for midterms you have the chance to rewrite the questions that you didn't answer correctly and can get at most half of the points if you rewrite it.  So lucky to have a professor like this!

- This semester I have a good feeling about my Statistics course so far - I can understand what the professor is discussing in the class and am able to solve about 80% of the assigned problems.  This overconfidence makes it difficult for me to sit in from of a desk studying the textbook.  On the other hand, Microeconomics is beyond my comprehension.  Since the first class, I couldn't solve the homework problems without the help of friends.  Due to my extreme lack of confidence, I now give up easily and can't even make myself read the textbook.  At both extremes, they all lead to bad  midterm performances.

- Autumn is so short this year, as we have had our first snow on the third Tuesday of October.  I haven't had the chance to take photos on my favorite golden leaves and the trees that are as red as fire.  I also haven't enjoyed stepping on the falling leaves...

- Four more discussion sections to the end of the semester, hooray!

- Finally bought the tickets.  Look forward to the vacation at the end of 2013!
