早上起床，聽到窗子玻璃好似被小石子敲打的聲音，拉開窗簾一看，才發現原來外頭正落著小冰珠呢。雨水下下來，因為靠近地面的空氣溫度太低，碰到地面前就已經凍結，一小顆一小顆的冰珠就這麼打下來。
小冰珠並沒有持續多久，就轉變為凍雨。這種寒冷的天氣完全只想窩在家裡。中午時分往外頭瞧一瞧，才發現屋簷已經結了許多冰柱。下午不得不出門一趟，開車前得把車窗上的冰清理清理；路上也鋪滿了薄薄的冰，走起路來也得特別留意。完全沒有下雪喔！整座城市就這麼被冰覆蓋著。
想起在美國的第一次冬季公路旅遊，第一站到Louisville， 第一次看到沒有下雪、只被冰覆蓋著的城市－連翠綠的葉子都被包裹在冰的晶瑩剔透之中。
已經是兩年前的事喏。
Waking up in the morning, I heard what sounded like tiny rock hitting on my window. Opened the curtain, I just realized that we were having ice pellets. Due to the extremely low temperature near the surface, the raindrops froze before they hit the ground. Hence ice pellets were formed and fell.
Ice pellets didn't last long then we had freezing rain. In this cold cold weather I just wanted to stay at home and did nothing. I looked out again at noon, and found lots of icicles along the roof. I didn't realized that icicles can formed without snowing till now. Had to return the DVD in the afternoon, then again I just realized that a thin layer of ice were formed and covered my car. All the city was covered by ice, even though we didn't have any snow.
It reminded me my first winter road trip in the US. First we stopped at Louisville, first time we saw a city covered by ice. Just ice, no snow. Even all the green leaves were covered in the crystal.
Two years have passed since then.
